My husband asked me to order this in black, as we had just purchased a new wall mounted tv. He didn't have any trouble putting it up and seemed like it took him less than an hour. We actually have this mounted to the left of our tv and it holds our FIOS receiver as well as our DVD player. You certainly can't do chin-ups on it, but it's stable and I don't have to worry about our two year old reaching it and trying to pull anything off the top of it. We're very pleased with the shelf.

I installed this product in our bedroom. The cable box was on my wife's dresser and she very much wanted her real estate back. This shelf solved the problem. It was easy to install, it is unobtrusively attractive, and my wife is happy. Win-win! Also, the wire management feature saved me from buying a separate piece of hardware.

I will add that you can mount this on a wall without the use of a stud. I have done so with 3 months total and one of the 3-shelf units. To do this go to your local home-depot/lowes and pickup hollow wall 100-lbs anchors. I used 4 of these anchors for the single sheft and 10 for the 3 shelf unit and both are now mounted and very strong. The multiple holes already drilled in the product allow for these extra anchors to be used.
Great product and with a little effort all wires can be hidden nicely!
Also you can purchase multiple Omni-mount tria (1,2 or 3 shelf units) and they will all work with one another. I might add another shelf to my current 3-shelf system in the furture!
