When I was pregnant with my first son, I bought one of these for his nursery. He is now 19 months old and it plays every night while he sleeps. He prefers the ocean sounds with buouy. It is very soothing and serves to dull noise coming from other rooms that might disturb him. There are tons of sound combinations, a volume control, and best of all, there is an adapter, so you need not spend a fortune in batteries. It travels well, so we never have to go without it.
Now that I am pregnant again, I have a bought another for the new baby. I absolutely love this product. Five stars, without question.

I love, love, love this item. I have had it for about a year and it has been a lifesaver, especially when we sleep away from home and it would normally be near impossible to get my two year old to go to bed. It gives him a little peice of home to make him feel comfortable and it helps to block out any noise going on outside the bedroom. I don't think my husband and I would be able to watch movies after our son is sleeping without this because he is the type of child who absolutely will not sleep if he thinks there is something going on without him. It's great. There are so many sounds and combinations to choose from. the sounds are clear, soothing, and they get loud enough to mask outside noise. I love it so much, I'm going to get one for my room!

We bought this sound machine for our baby to help lengthen sleep, and it really seemed to help. She is so used to the wind and wave sounds that even now, when she is almost 3, we put the sound machine on and she falls easily to sleep. If we forget to bring it with us on a trip, she has a more difficult time sleeping. This machine has battery backup, so when we have lost power it still works. We take it with us anywhere we travel, or send it to grandma's when our daughter sleeps over there. It has been a good product, we haven't had any problems with it.
