Holds 20 lb speaker June 24, 2010 DL (MA) I bought this to hold my Klipsh center speaker for my Mitsubishi DLP TV. The front of the speaker rests on the top of the TV, and this device supports the rest of the speaker.
Because of the way I installed it, it is not visible behind the TV. It works perfectly for what I needed it for. Very sturdy! I lucked out because there is a stud in my wall dead center behind the TV.
Cheap and Works Well May 16, 2010 J. Trower (Cary, NC) These are great mounts that are cheap and strong. I actually used 159lb drywall anchors to hold up my AV components and they held up well. The only beef I can say is that the predrilled holes are to close to the center of the bracket. there are 4 of them and are almost in a straight line vertically down the center. Well it makes it a bit floppy when installed like that. I went ahead and drilled my own that were spaced near the sides so there are no horizontal movement. Worked like a charm. If you want a good solution to your mounting needs then you will be happy with these mounts.
Nice design, neat and strong April 26, 2010 G. Bell (Cincinnati, Oh. USA) I was a little worried about this being substantial enough to support a fairly heavy cable box/DVR and a heavy Audio receiver but it is strong enough that I'm very comfortable all my equipment is safe. They installed very easily and the lag bolts were plenty strong enough once I located the studs in the wall using a stud finder. The allen screws that are used to secure the arms to the wall mount are pretty cheap and I did strip one of them with the supplies allen wrench but it's nothing I can't match and replace with a trip to the hardware store.
A great value when compared to other solutions. I have mine mounted in a vertical line one on top of the other and after removing the little knock out plastic parts on the top and bottom, was able to feed the electric cords down the wall to the surge protector and the HDMI up the wall to the TV and hide all the cords. Just be sure to mount the top unit so that the top of the wall mount is behind the bottom of the tv and you won't be able to see any cords going up.
I likely will be buying again for other rooms or as a solution when my parents finally go flat screen when their rear projection TV quits. One last concern/thought is if you have a DVD or blueray that has a front cover that drops down before the disktray slides out when you load or eject, you will have to position the player on the edge or the arms as there is not enough clearance for the cover to drop without hitting the support arms. Mine is still very secure there.
Worked as planned April 22, 2010 cmyk (providence) Good, sturdy mounting for cable box. Two issues: one of the set screws stripped when I tried to tighten too much (which wasn't much...), but a little Lock Tite did the trick. Second issue is that I first installed the mounting plate based on leveling the plate itself. Once I got the arm up, I realized it was way out of level, so I ah to re-mount it. Word to the wise: install arms and determine where the bracket will be mounted based on where the arms are level. Othe than that, it's fine
Sanus Componenet Shelf Wall Mount April 10, 2010 Alfonso U. Mendoza (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Sanus Component shelf wall mount is well constructed and has a low profile appearance. The mount is strong enough for a few light to medium size components(such as medium size amplifier, cable box and DVD player). For high end components such as power amps and power conditioners that are heavy, the mount must be installed bolted to a stud or similar. Mollies will not work and even with light components, it will eventually fail. The Sanus wall mount has a couple of flaws that were annoying. The design will not allow you to level or plumb it once attached to the wall. It must be precisely plumbed and leveled prior to bolting it or the smallest error will be very noticeable. Another issue was the size of the shelf itself, since there is not a surface on it such a glass or similar, the front supports of the components will interfere with the supports provided with the mount. This will make the components look out of level and higher towards the front, since the U design of the shelf will not allow for the rear supports to rest on anything( I had to removed the front supports and use a component that was flat on the bottom). The management of wires was also a small issue; however, this shelf is not for large set ups.
In conclusion, the shelf serves its purpose nicely and looks presentable and modern. The strength of it will surprise you and it can be used for several applications other than components or electronics. I recommend it as long as you are aware of the issues above. Also, I will buy it again if I were to need one in the future.
